Enhancing Community Health Awareness through Mobile Health Education among Elderly Residents in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Purpose – This community service initiative sought to improve health awareness and preventive healthcare behaviors among elderly residents in Chiang Mai, Thailand, through mobile health education services.
Design/methods/approach – Mobile health units visited five communities over six months, providing health screenings, educational sessions, and personalized consultations. A total of 120 elderly participants were involved. Data were collected through questionnaires, health assessments, and follow-up interviews.
Findings – Health knowledge scores increased from 61.3 to 84.5 points. Routine health check-up participation rose from 45.8% to 79.2%. Blood pressure monitoring compliance improved by 37.5%, while healthy dietary practices increased among 68.3% of participants.
Research implications/limitations – The project relied on voluntary participation and was conducted within a limited geographic area. Further studies are needed to examine long-term behavioral changes and health outcomes.
Originality/value – The project demonstrates the effectiveness of mobile health education as an accessible approach to community health promotion among aging populations in Southeast Asia.
